Performing Arts Project
Definition
The Performing Arts Project presents free (sponsored) performances by talented solo entertainers in various public spaces
and business establishments. The performances may be in the form of background entertainment, such as a violin player or pianist
in the lobby of a bank, strolling entertainers, such as a capella singers in a city park, or set shows, such as a a magic
show or poetry recital at a community center. Performances are entirely free; entertainers do not accept gratuities, and the
public is treated to first-class entertainment not otherwise available. This enlivens the city, supports the arts, enhances
the good-name of the sponsor, and helps kids in America. Entertainers may also be sponsored to perform at private events,
schools, company affairs, and festivals. A portion of the sponsorship funds compensate the artist, and the remainder supports
organizations helping kids in America. Sponsors may choose the type(s) of entertainer(s), and the location of the performances,
and have the opportunity to have their name, and logo (if a business) displayed on a small sign displayed in the performance
area, or on "We hope you enjoyed the entertainment" cards made available to the public. Performing arts workshops at community
and recreation centers may also be sponsored.
Requirements
Any individual, group, business*, or city department may sponsor an entertainer. The sponsorship cost (a donation) is typically
$100. for 3 hours, or $150. for 5 hours, per entertainer, but may be more for a pianist in instances when a piano is not already
available at the performance location, or in the event a selected performer must travel a long distance. * Some businesses, such as those that deal in the sale of tobacco or pornography may be deemed ineligible. Performing Artist Project entertainers must pass the qualification process conducted by our Project Talent
Coordinators.
Process
Those interested in sponsoring a performer, may apply at the Performing Arts Project section of our website, where a list
of types of entertainers available is published.* (You may request that our project coordinator
provide you with a roster, including photos, bios and credits of the particular artists available in your area) or if no roster
is yet available for your city, you may simply select the type of entertainment desired, and the project coordinator will
locate and enlist that type of entertainer.) Businesses, such as banks and malls, may choose
their own establishments as performance locations or any public space. Individuals may choose a business location (subject
to approval by said business) or any public space. Entertainers interested in participating in the Performing Arts Project
must complete and submit the application available at the Performing Arts Project section of our website, and submit two professional-quality
photographs, including a headshot and a performance shot (eg. playing violin). A project coordinator will contact applicants
within 48 hours.
Period
The minimum period of sponsorship is 3 hours. The maximum performance period for any one entertainer for the day is 6 hours.
(Entertainers receive a 15-minute break during each hour). Sponsorship may continue indefinitely, subject to the availability
of the entertainer(s). (Those sponsoring for more than one day may select different entertainers for different days. Those
sponsoring more than one entertainer may select different locations for each.) Once accepted, entertainers may remain on our
roster of talent indefinitely, and are encouraged to notify us in the event of non-availability for an extended period of
time.
Benefits
The benefits abound, and touch all involved. The primary benefit is the shared satisfaction of knowing that the project
is helping needy kids in America. Other benefits include the support for the arts and the artists. The project enlivens the
public spaces of the city, creates a pleasant atmosphere in business establishments, such as banks and malls, and provides
talented entertainers the opportunity to display their skills to a wide variety of society, many whom might not otherwise
be exposed to such entertainment. Sponsors receive much-deserved recognition, and the satisfaction of providing the public,
and in some cases, employees of the sponsor, with the unique and wonderful gift of live music, magic or any art appropriate
for the selected location. The sponsorship cost is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Entrtainers providing services
valued higher than compensation received may also be eligible for tax deductions.
